Ron Antman in Ralph's Talent Contest

By Brigitta Van Der Raay |  October 8, 2012

Ron, our very own talented singer/guitarist, sang his original song "Let Me In," at the Get Real {talent}@ Ralphs talent show in Agoura, and won first place!  Ron won $250 for being one of the four Agoura area talent show winners, and $500 for being voted into the Get Real {talent}@ Ralphs grand finale competition.

He went on to compete at the Get Real {talent}@ Ralphs grand finale competition at the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse in San Gabriel on Saturday, October 6.  He was one of ten winners from the Agoura, Riverside, Orange County, Los Angeles, and San Diego districts.  Ron sang two songs, one original song he wrote, and "I Give Myself Away," a song we have been enjoying at church!  He performed wonderfully, and was surprised at the warm reaction and several personal encouragements he recieved from people that appreciated a religious song in a non-religious setting setting such as a talent show!  Unfortunately the competition was stiff:  a Mexican folk dance group, two cover bands, a salsa band, a classical guitarist, a dramatic singer of Phantom of the Opera, a couple of rappers with original "Ralph's Grocery Store" songs, and a lovely country western singer.  It was pretty evident that any one of these could have won the show! Several performers brought along tour buses with supporters from their district, and there was mad cheering for those contestants.  Combined with free food and prizes, basically the whole thing was a great party, with a lot of fun!
